Discovering Your Best Self through Integrative Health Coaching

In collaboration with the Joy Wellness Center at Shepherd's Clinic, this event is open to both current clients and also anyone currently living in the zip codes served!

As your integrative health coach, I'll support you in envisioning how your health could look in the future. When it comes to your health and wellbeing, doctors and numbers are of course important, but *you* are the expert on your own life! Together, we'll explore all of the aspects of your life that impact your health and well being, and by the end of the first session you'll identify the small steps you can take towards a meaningful goal of your choice, so that your future best self can emerge.

Profound Rest Series

 

Take time to nourish and care for yourself, before we head into the season of gratitude and giving - on November 3rd, 10th, & 17th - I’ll tuck you in!

This special series of evening classes will provide participants with a safe space to explore Yoga Nidra, a technique for deep healing and rejuvenation. We will begin each evening with gentle warm-ups, somatic movements and self-massage techniques in preparation
for entering a state of profound rest where true healing and transformation also take place. 

Yoga Nidra is a guided meditative practice that requires
nothing of you, simply lie down and listen. While you give yourself
permission to rest and restore, you will find yourself tapping into your innate ability to heal. You will leave with several ideas for self-care and your own home practice as well. No prior yoga or meditation experience is needed.

Baltimore Museum of Art's Open Hours: Self-Care At Home

It is my pleasure to announce this collaboration with the Baltimore Museum of Art! Come breathe and move with me; come home to yourself.

During this two-hour workshop, we will discuss the meaning of home when it comes to the body, practice chair yoga meant for every body, and explore breathing techniques and guided meditation. Participants will leave with a personal self-care mission statement to implement at home and keep as a reminder that self-care is never selfish.

Labyrinth Walking Meditation

Join me each or any sunday in June for a walking/rolling/cane assisted meditation in the labyrinth near the YMCA. I'll provide instruction if you need it, and I'll provide umbrellas if you tell me in advance that you're still coming in the rain. We'll begin at 5pm, and I'll plan to stay until 6, so feel free to join us at any point. Also feel free to stay as long or as short as you'd like. Why not invite a neighbor? Dana donations of $3 are welcome, but not required.

The labyrinth is located on the site of the old Memorial Stadium on 33rd Street – east of Greenmount Avenue and west of Loch Raven Blvd. The labyrinth is a Santa Rosa, blue flagstone labyrinth, placed at the spiritual entryway to Stadium Place, and it’s apparently one of the largest in Baltimore.

Amy Genevieve Kozak has practiced yoga and meditation for two decades. Amy is a Kripalu Yoga Teacher and will soon also be an Advanced Teacher of Integrative Yoga Therapy. She trained professionally for these honors, at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Massachusetts, where she is also is a Faculty Assistant, with Rudy Pierce, Michelle Dalbec, as well as Joseph & Lillian Le Page, Maria Mendola and Kaelash Neels. She currently works with Johns Hopkins in their Integrative Health program and at their Bayview fitness center. Amy has developed continuing education workshops for care providers, including nurses and social workers. Amy teaches group yoga classes in various settings across the state of Maryland, including the Jewish Community Center, and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. Amy has a Bachelors of Science in Psychology, a Masters of Science, and is also trained in Mental Health First Aid. She is a lifelong advocate for the vulnerable.

Join me as I assist my dear friend and mentor, Rudy Peirce's upcoming program at Kripalu - The Joy of Dynamic Gentle Yoga!

Rudy takes a gentle approach, infusing his sessions with humor, humility, and warmth as he invites you into a deeply relaxing practice. I'll be there to assist Rudy and all of the program participants. Practitioners of all levels are invited, especially beginners; yoga practice doesn’t have to be intimidating, discouraging, or painful. With Rudy’s inspiring and encouraging guidance, you learn how to:

* Breathe deeply again
* Integrate meditation with yoga
* Strengthen concentration and focus
* Avoid pushing too hard and too far

Yoga by The Bay

Yoga By The Bay in collaboration with The Chesapeake Bay Foundation, is back due to popular demand!

Now that the evenings come sooner and the weather is cooler, we're moving indoors; join us in the Canvasback room (located next to the deck where we practiced all summer) for an hour of yoga beginning at 5:30pm, followed by a half hour of meditation.

Please wear comfortable clothes, bring a water bottle, yoga mat or towel. Drop in rates for the general public are $12 (available online here).

The weather could become a bit dicey, so our tentative schedule is as follows:

Resiliency Workshop

This workshop will build on the concepts of self-care presented previously, and while new material will be covered, no prior knowledge is necessary.

Does life seem unrelenting? Have you experienced a major setback on your self-care journey? Would you like to take a moment for yourself to reset? This event is meant for you! 

In this two hour workshop:
We'll discuss some behind the scenes science;
We'll practice therapeutic yoga meant for every body;
We'll leave with some tips, tools, and a few things to implement at home; 
And again be reminded that self-care is never selfish.

Profound Rest Series

Take time to nourish and care for yourself, before we head into the season of gratitude and giving - join me at my home studio, I'll tuck you in!

This special series of Sunday evening classes (from 6 to 8pm each evening) will provide participants with a safe space to explore Yoga Nidra, a technique for deep healing and rejuvenation, as follows:

* November 6th
* November 13th
* November 20th

We will begin each evening with gentle warm-ups, somatic movements and self-massage techniques in preparation for entering a state of profound rest where true healing and transformation also take place. 

Yoga Nidra is a guided meditative practice that requires nothing of you, simply lie down and listen. While you give yourself permission to rest and restore, you will find yourself tapping into your inate ability to heal. You will leave with several ideas for self-care and your own home practice as well. No prior yoga or meditation experience is needed. 

$50 for the entire series (space is extremely limited); $20 drop-in rates for single sessions

Self Care Workshop

We'll discuss the ways you might add yourself to your to do list;

Creating a Trauma Informed Waverly

This series of events is an opportunity for members of the Waverly community to understand what being trauma-informed is, and how changing our perspective, could enhance our entire community.

Please join me in my home on Thursday, October 20th, from 7 to 9pm, to kick off the series. Donations of $10 to $20 are suggested but not required. Snacks will be provided, and seating is limited. Please take your RSVP seriously (if you don't already know me, this is how you learn my address), and if this particular evening does not work for you, please know that I am hosting additional events on this topic, as follows:

This series of events has arisen from conversations I have had with neighbor friends after traumatic community events, a personal exerience I had eight years ago in Mt. Vernon, and is supported by my background in psycholgy and the current focus of my yoga practice, which is yoga therapy. 

"'Trauma-informed’ generally refers to operating on the assumption that the majority of people with whom one will come in contact have experienced trauma in their lives. This perspective encourages individuals to ask ‘What happened to you,’ rather than ‘What is wrong with you,’ and to approach understanding an individual’s way of interacting with the world as being a reaction to their past trauma and environment rather than solely as an internal process or biology. "
